Experimenting with layout and color palettes

This choropleth map uses US Census Bureau data on resident birth state to show United States counties and census tracts as a rate of state-born residents out of total state residents. I enjoyed designing these maps’ divergent color scheme and minimalistic, informative layout. This project developed my skills designing choropleth maps, a divergent color scheme shared across five map frames, understanding and designing my own classification scheme, customizing a legend, abbreviation dictionaries, working with census tracts, and the Modifiable Areal Unit Problem.
