Willamette Valley Reference Layout

These three reference maps include natural and cultural data in the Willamette Valley, Portland Metro Area, and Salem. I enjoyed considering which data are appropriate to show at different scales and tweaking label symbology to create detailed and cohesive maps. This project developed my skills of making cartographic decisions to establish visual hierarchy, know key components of a reference map, query datasets for important features (e.g., major roads, cities with high populations), adjust land use symbology, and use good halo, label alignment, and layering techniques.
